Revelle in London; My Favorite Excursions

#1. The City of Bath

Bath was by far my favorite excursion that we went on throughout the five weeks that I was in England because of the amazing atmosphere. We were able to stay in the dorms at the University of Bath overnight, it was surrounded by nature, and there was even a University city that you could get to by bus that was gorgeous! The next day we went to the actual city of bath and were able to see the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, the River Avon and the amazing environment all around it. It was so quiet, peaceful and one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. I would love to go back there one day!

#2. Cambridge University

The amount of history through the discoveries that were made at Cambridge and the important people that went there in the past perfectly encapsulated what it was like to be in the UK. The UK and especially London has a huge amount of history, there are tons of museums, palaces everywhere you go and the buildings all around have such amazing architecture that show a glimpse of the past. Cambridge itself was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking, and had such a completely different experience from any campus in the US that I've ever seen. I would definitely recommend visiting this campus if you are ever in the UK.

#3. Shakespeare's Globe

We got to watch a Midsummer Night's Dream in Shakespeare's Globe as one of our day excursions and it was amazing! We had previously read the play for class so it was connected perfectly to what we were studying, which also made it easier to watch the play since you already know the basic plot. The actors added a few modern references and added little things to the play that made it even more interesting. It was also interesting because the globe is not allowed to have lighting, microphones or any special effects, but the actors worked around it perfectly to make the experience enjoyable for the audience. Shakespeare's Globe is located right in central London, so it perfectly captured what it was like to be in London; using the tube to get there, the view alongside the Thames River, Borough Market being right next door, and the mixture of historic and modern buildings.
