Cultural Enlightenment 

Florence was a great place for artistic expression and there were various excursions on the program to the many museums and galleries within the city. There were many art pieces like the Birth of Venus that I had only seen and textbooks or movie.

Il Duomo 

A very famous attraction was to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The iconic Brunelleschi dome can even be visited if booked in advance. The inside of the cathedral is huge with very intricately detailed walls. The dome is beautiful and even grander from within the cathedral. 

Palazzo Vecchio 

The Palazzo Vecchio was an impressive bridge that connected Florence over the river Arno. It was mostly lined with jewelry stores. However, the bridge looks amazing during sunset: 

There were various other popular locations that were must-see before leaving Florence and luckily seeing the David statue was included in the program excursions. The visit to the Accademia Gallery in Florence was very busy especially being the summer and high season for tourism. The David statue was even more impressive in person considering how detailed and lifelike it was despite the size and scale of the sculpture.
