Chilly in Chile! - Semana Uno en Santiago

Today officially marks my first full week in Santiago! On my flight here, I was pretty nervous since I didn't know anyone else attending this Global Seminar, but I quickly found my group and we've been inseparable ever since we met at the airport. 

Monday morning, we all headed to class, and we were amazed by the view we had on the rooftop of our building. We marveled at the snow covered peaks of the Andes Mountains! It was quite the view, and the rooftop proved to be a great break area after class. 

Throughout the week, we went on excursions to Plaza de Armas and Cerro Santa Lucia, two of the most influential historical landmarks in Santiago. Inside the Metropolitan Cathedral in Plaza de Armas, we came across a cat, or as we called it, el gato de la iglesia. We had quite the photoshoot with him! At Cerro Santa Lucia, we explored the top of the summit, which used to be a military lookout point for a Spanish conquistadore. We also had an amazing view of the Andes from there!

During the weekend, my friends and I decided to explore the nightlife of Santiago, and went to an awesome nightclub featuring live DJs. The next day, we ventured to a jazz bar, where we listened to some experimental jazz. It was amazing! Both the nightclub and jazz bar had incredible artists performing, and I can't wait to explore more next weekend!

Overall, it's been pretty cold here with each day only reaching about 50 degrees, but that hasn't stopped us from going on many fun adventures. Can't wait to see what's next!
