A Class Trip to the Islands
Studying Abroad is all about learning outside of the classroom. One of the wonderful components of the Global Seminar is that their are scheduled class trips. During Week 3, we took a trip to the islands of Kos and Patmos.
In Kos, we visited the Hippocrates Garden, archaeological site of Asclepion (pictured below), villages, and the archaeological museum of Kos. We had a class dinner as we watched the sunset, a view that no camera could ever capture.
We then took a ferry to the island of Patmos We visited the Monastery and the Cave of the Apocalypse. It's crazy to believe that I was in the cave where John of Patmos wrote the Book of Revelation! I eventually had to analyze and write a paper about the Book and John as part of the PSYC 193 class.
This trip was a wonderful experience and it really showed me how I can learn while going to these archaeological sites and museums versus reading about it in a textbook.
