Week 1: Discovering Aix-en-Provence

The first week in Aix has been incredible and I've already learned so much about the city! The week started off pretty fast as we had an orientation and a brief tour of the buildings on the first day. On Tuesday, we learned more about the city and how Roman history had a great influence on its architecture. We also got an amazing market tour afterwards! I learned that the city has 3 weekly market days which are: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The markets are huge and are spread throughout the city with each market day either being for food & flowers, art, or clothing.

Towards the end of the week, we went on an excursion to visit the oldest theater in the world; The Eden Theatre in La Ciotat. Here, we got to learn about the history of French Cinema and some of its biggest influences. It was also really cool to hear about the theater in general as it's fully ran by volunteers from la Ciotat! We ended off this excursion with a beach day and soap making.

Since I had the rest of the week to myself after returning from Thursday's excursion, on Friday my friend and I went to a nearby theater to see Supergirl and grabbed some dinner afterwards. My favorite day of the week was definitely Saturday since a few friends and I decided to buy tickets last minute visit Gorges du Verdon, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, and the blooming lavender and sunflower fields. It was an amazing experience and we were drained by the end of the day. Despite having had a long day, we still went out later that night to watch the France vs Paraguay game and had an amazing time. It's now Sunday, meaning it's time for a reset in order to be prepared for the new week.

(Gorges du Verdon - The water was so blue and clear, it was unreal)

(Moustiers-Sainte-Marie - A small town built into a mountain, the waterfall was amazing and ran all the way through the town)
