Week 3- Granada, Spain- London Trip!
Hello everyone! This week I had my big adventure and did a solo trip to London for the weekend. For context, prior to this program, I’d never really flown, much less by myself and in foreign countries. I will say that my initial flight over here was a massive help in preparation. Say what you will, though, I did prefer LAX over the airports here, but I managed my way through just fine. The weekend started on Friday, catching my flight from Malaga at 12. I had to take a two-hour bus there, but I was able to sleep most of the way. Then, I had to navigate the airport to get to my gate. I arrived in one piece with all my stuff, and then I was off to my hostel. I decided to save money on my housing to have more to spend on my actual experience. So I checked in around 4, and I was incredibly tired. Making a quick decision, I decided to take the day off and just stay very locally to my hostel so I could save energy and hopefully pack the next day with activities.
The next day, I went over to the British Museum, and rather than follow a specific itinerary, I decided to kind of just follow what interested me in the moment. That being said, I definitely got lost several times, all while insisting on checking out a random shop I noticed on a side street. What really should have been a short journey turned into an extended trip just because I kept circling around looking at more stores and booths.
Finally, though, I did arrive at the museum and had to wait in line to enter. In total, the massive line only takes 20 minutes, which I was extremely pleased by. I am a big fan of museums, so I spent hours here. I especially enjoyed the two rooms of Mexican and Asian artifacts, as there was an attention to detail that really amazed me. It was incredible to be able to see the evolution of their art forms through the sheer number of artifacts they housed there. Then, I remembered that I wanted to get myself a little souvenir and remembered a highly specific keyring and rushed my way back to purchase it before closing. With that, I was pretty satisfied and spent the rest of my time wandering until I slept and had to make my way back to Granada.
