Tegallalang Rice Terrace

Who would've thought that 5 weeks could go by so fast! During my last week in Bali, I knew I had to conclude this Global Seminar with an activity that would encompass the Bali "vibe". On the last Wednesday of this trip, my friends and I decided to go to the beautiful Tegallalang Rice Terrace. Thankfully finding stuff to do in Bali was not difficult. Right outside of the hotel that I was staying at, there was a booth of activities to do run by a kind man who was always willing to help with transportation and information about what we would be visiting. The visit to the rice terrace was absolutely beautiful. We got a package deal for transportation and entrance into the rice terrace. Included was the ability to get on the famous "Bali Swing."

To my surprise, the rice terrace was a short distance away from the city in which I was staying, Ubud. The drive there was short and simple. Getting there, we were greeted with a beautiful view of the rice terrace. This rice terrace was enormous. I had seen rice fields around Bali already, but this was something on a much larger scale.

The first stop at the rice fields was the famous Bali Swing. This is pretty much self-explanatory, but it is a swing that overlooks the beautiful rice terrace. I went with two friends and we were all a bit nervous to go on. We decided to do the classic rock paper scissors to decide who would go first. Going on the swing, we realized there was nothing to be afraid of. It was so much fun and so so beautiful. I rented out this skirt to have the full effect on this picture. It was absolutely stunning.

After we all had our turn on the swing, we started to walk around. We found these cute little props to take pictures with. The views were so pretty. One thing about Bali is that it is all super green. Every tourist site has several props for multiple opportunities to take pictures.

After getting all of the pictures in, we decided to start walking through the rice terrace. This was where we realized that walking the terrace was a workout. We walked through admiring the beauty. We eventually made it a mission to get to this artificial waterfall. When we first tried getting there, we got a bit lost. After a couple of different attempts, we finally made it. In total, we took about 2 and a half hours at the rice terrace including the wait to go on the swing. This was definitely a super fun last experience to have.
