Week 4: PEAKED
During my fourth week in the Cognitive Science Global Seminar in Barcelona, I delved deeper into the cultural and professional facets of the city, experienced bittersweet farewells, and found myself contemplating a more permanent stay in this vibrant metropolis.
This week was marked by enriching visits to museums and businesses. Exploring Barcelona's renowned museums, such as the Picasso Museum and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, provided a profound insight into the city's rich artistic heritage. Each museum visit was a journey through time, offering glimpses of Spain's historical and cultural evolution. The Picasso Museum, in particular, was a highlight, showcasing the artist's early works and his profound connection to Barcelona. These cultural outings were complemented by visits to local businesses, which provided a practical understanding of the region's economic landscape. Engaging with professionals and learning about the innovative business practices in Barcelona was both educational and inspiring, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world applications.
However, this week also brought the inevitable goodbyes. Several friends from other programs were concluding their time in Barcelona and heading back to their respective homes. Saying goodbye to these friends was a poignant reminder of the transient nature of study abroad experiences. The bonds formed over the past few weeks made these farewells particularly emotional. We reminisced about our shared adventures, from late-night tapas to beach outings, and promised to stay in touch. Although it was difficult to see them go, the memories we created together will always hold a special place in my heart.
As I navigated the city's vibrant streets and immersed myself in its dynamic culture, a thought began to take root in my mind: I could see myself living here. The blend of historical charm and modern vibrancy, the welcoming locals, and the endless opportunities for exploration made Barcelona feel like more than just a temporary destination. The idea of moving to Barcelona became increasingly appealing as I envisioned a life filled with the city's rich cultural offerings, delicious cuisine, and dynamic atmosphere.
Overall, my fourth week in Barcelona was a blend of cultural enrichment, heartfelt farewells, and the realization that this city had truly captured my heart. The combination of museum visits, business insights, and deepening connections made me feel more integrated into the fabric of Barcelona, sparking a desire to consider it as a potential future home. This week added another layer of depth to my experience, reinforcing my appreciation for everything this remarkable city has to offer.
