Week 3: Acclimatizing
During my third week in the Cognitive Science Global Seminar in Barcelona, I continued to deepen my exploration of the city and beyond, while also solidifying my bond with friends and embracing the local culture.
One of the highlights of this week was visiting rooftop bars. Barcelona is renowned for its stunning views, and the rooftop bars did not disappoint. We visited several, each offering a unique perspective of the city skyline. Whether sipping on a refreshing cocktail or enjoying delicious tapas, these rooftop experiences provided the perfect combination of relaxation and awe-inspiring vistas. The cool evening breeze and the panoramic views of the cityscape made each visit memorable and special.
Bonding with friends continued to be a significant part of this week. We spent a lot of time walking through various neighborhoods, enduring the intensifying heat together. These walks were not just about getting from one place to another, but about exploring hidden gems and discovering the city's soul. Whether we were meandering through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter or strolling along the vibrant La Rambla, these shared experiences brought us closer together and created lasting memories. The summer heat was intense, but it only added to the sense of adventure and camaraderie.
As I navigated through different parts of the city and interacted with locals, I began to feel more like a resident than a visitor. Understanding the public transport system, finding favorite spots for food and drinks, and engaging with the local culture all contributed to this growing sense of belonging. The more I immersed myself in the daily life of Barcelona, the more comfortable and empowered I felt. This sense of familiarity transformed my experience from that of a tourist to someone who genuinely belongs.
Overall, my third week in Barcelona was marked by breathtaking views from rooftop bars, deeper connections with friends through shared adventures, and a profound sense of feeling like a local. These experiences have made my time here even more enriching and unforgettable.
