week four in London!

Week four was for sure my favorite week of this trip. It was so busy, I almost forgot how tired I felt! Between 8 hour travel days, class work, and excursions, it is safe to say that this week was one for the books!

We started with a day trip to Edinburgh, which turned into an eight-hour travel day between trains and exploring. Even though we were only there for the day, I really enjoyed getting to see a completely different part of the UK. Edinburgh was so different from London, especially the architecture and the overall feel of the city. I definitely wish we had more time there, but I’m glad we made the trip.

Back in London, we went to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I’ve read Shakespeare before, but seeing one of his plays performed made it much easier to appreciate the humor and chaos of the story. It was also nice to do something that connected to what we’ve been studying rather than just sightseeing.

We also spent a day in Oxford, where we walked around the university and explored the city. It was interesting seeing how different Oxford felt from London, especially with all of the historic buildings and college campuses. After spending so much time in London, it was a nice change of pace.
Then, somehow, we ended the week in Paris! After all of the traveling earlier in the week, I was definitely ready for a break, but I was also excited to be somewhere completely new. Going from Edinburgh to London to Oxford and then Paris all in one week was a lot, but it was also probably my favorite week of the trip so far.
